Tucked away in a nice quiet neighbourhood on Lake Avenue behind Menoka Cinema – a new café has quietly opened its doors. And yes, this café is definitely different. It comes with a Touch of Nepal!
Café Kathmandu is different from the rest. What sets us apart? First is the décor. Situated inside an old restored house where Raja Venkatraman – popularly known as Raja Venkat (a former Indian first-class cricketer and national team selector) was born, the Café is spacious and well laid out giving one a feeling of privacy. As one enters you get a feeling of going back in time with a subtle blend of old Bengal and a touch of Nepalese history. An extremely informative and yet subtle touches of vintage black & white photos give one an insight into the historical places of Kathmandu. A handpicked selection of Nepalese handicrafts from Kathmandu Valley adorns the walls.
A warm inviting aroma of the coffee beans greets you as soon as you enter the premises. And then we are taken into the wonderful world of coffee beans. Serving 100% specialty Arabica coffee – the delicate brews in Café Kathmandu simply takes one by surprise. Finally the fine choice of comfort food and heavenly desserts are definitely a must.
The café culture in some countries goes back centuries. Historically, cafés have been important venues for intellects, artists and friends to gather, write, work, read, talk and pass the time at – today's modern coffee culture is just as exciting!
